GET TO KNOW OUR TEAM OF REMODELING CONTRACTORS

Bob Tilghman Square Edit

Bob Tilghman

President

#TeamTilghman all started with Bob and his wife Joanne! He was originally a cabinet maker. His passion for building started his senior year of high school where he constructed a grandfather clock. Joanne and Bob also built most of their furniture in the year before they got married. He quickly realized it would be tough to make a living with cabinet making, so he shifted focus to carpentry and remodeling work. He has always loved framing but believes finish work is his best construction skillset. He reads the Bible every morning and loves spending time with his kids and grandkids. Bob also enjoys travelling, fitness and golf. A testament to Bob’s commitment, dedication and loyalty can be summed up in this recollection:

“When my daughters were 5 and 6 years old, my wife brought home a flyer from the YMCA about an organization called Indian Princesses. I joined this father/daughter group with my daughters. The organization consisted of numerous “Tribes” which made up the “Nation” of the Hatboro YMCA Indian Princesses. Our tribe was the “Mohegans.” We would meet and do arts and crafts at each other’s house once each month. Each summer we would go on a 3-day camping trip with the entire Nation. After the age of around 12, the program ended but we have remained friends with the main fathers and daughters in our Tribe. Each summer the group still goes on a camping trip, but years ago we added a water feature. We usually go canoeing or kayaking on a river. This annual tradition continued all through the years. My daughters are now 40 and 41 and we still do this trip every year. “

His aim is to successfully transition the business that he has been building for the last 42 years to his son, Eric, so Eric can take it to new heights. Also, to consistently bring something positive to every interaction he has with family, friends, and strangers.

Joanne Square Edit

Joanne Tilghman

Chief Design Officer

Joanne Tilghman, affectionately known as "Jo," serves as the Chief Design Officer here at Tilghman Builders. Her roots trace back to Hatboro, where she spent her formative years and attended Upper Moreland High School. It was in this very town that she met her life partner, Bob, and together they built a life, raised their children, and established Tilghman Builders. Joanne’s prowess lies in the realm of design, where her creativity and vision bring her client’s home renovation dreams to life. She excels in collaborating with clients, presenting them with a myriad of ideas before seamlessly translating them into tangible plans for the architect.  As a key figure in #TeamTilghman, she appreciates the caring and supportive atmosphere that permeates the group. She considers herself fortunate to have such a dedicated team by her side. Beyond her professional endeavors, Joanne finds joy in various activities. Despite “slowing down a bit”, she remains an avid runner. Her interests extend to happy hours with friends, golfing, decorating and painting spaces. She loves watching the transformation of a room, and seeing how a room can be elevated with a simple change of color. However, her heart is fullest when spending time with her children and, especially, her grandchildren. One of her guilty pleasures is ice cream, and she's not above sneaking out for a treat from Dairy Queen or Rita’s, cleverly concealing the evidence by hiding the wrappers. About a year ago, she revealed this sweet secret to her family, who all found joy in it and it deepened the bond within the Tilghman clan. Joanne often brings her A-Game to most occasions, and many see her as outgoing and confident. However, she harbors a quiet and shy side not immediately apparent. Nevertheless, when the occasion calls for it, Jo effortlessly brings her charm and charisma. In terms of life goals, Joanne has a simple vision: to maintain a healthy mind and body, ensuring she and Bob can celebrate their 100th wedding anniversary surrounded by their loving family. The journey towards this milestone is marked by Jo's dedication to well-being, both personally and within the tight-knit Tilghman Builders family.

Eric Tilghman

Chief Operating Officer; Vice President

Eric grew up in Churchville, met his wife and had three beautiful children which are his guiding lights in life. After living in Glenside with his wife and kids for ten years, he has recently moved his family into the Horsham area. Eric’s been working in the construction business since he was 13 years old, that’s not a typo either! He advanced to the Lead Carpenter position which he held for 12 years and enjoyed all aspects of carpentry. He paved his way to step out of the field and become the company's first Operations Manager in 2020, where he found his true passion for team building, improving business systems and growing the family business. He has firm beliefs around kind company culture being the solution to business and has built a world class culture at Tilghman Builders. All while uncovering the core values we adhere to everyday; honesty, accountability and kindness. #TeamTilghman and Tilghman Builders is a force for good, and he believes the world needs more of that in the construction industry. Eric has devoted his life to expanding the company to become a nationwide business that everyone knows, loves and trusts. Such overarching goals and growth come at a price, which is why Eric consistently starts his mornings at 4:00am, keeping him fueled and motivated. He starts his day by meditating, stretching, journaling gratitude, going to the gym then topping that all off with a cold shower. In Eric's off-time, when he is not completely enthralled with personal growth, fitness and business, Eric is with his family. It’s important to Eric that he shows his children what it means to be a man, father, and husband. He wants to leave a family legacy and positive stamp on the world.

Square Edit Jay

Eric "Jay" Kovach

Senior Estimator

Around here, Eric goes by ‘Jay.’ An odd nickname for ‘Eric’ you would initially think - but the history behind the name shows the true heart and culture of #TeamTilghman. Eric has been with Tilghman Builders since he was 16 (now that’s some loyalty!), often working on jobs with the other long-standing Eric here. It proved to get confusing having two guys with the same name, on the same job, so the nickname ‘Jay’ emerged to provide a more professional edge to the previous moniker, ‘Junior.’ His attention to detail and passion for efficiency transcend outside the world of construction, where he enjoys completing projects around his home, landscaping and playing sports. Bucks County born and raised, eldest sibling to three, and dad of one, Jay insists he’s younger than his grey hairs claim! Three of his main goals in life are to continue to build his family, achieve financial stability, and to guide his son and future children to be positive and contributing forces to society.
